Many think that Hotel John has the best location in the Bergslagen district, lying in a naturally winsome spot where routes 63 and 64 meet by lovely lake Daglösen. And it is truly in the middle of this iron-mining district, having served as a trading centre and a natural lay-by for tired travellers from the first.
The hotel was built in 1972 with special focus on three types of travellers: Businessmen who look for a comfortable, central hotel with a leisure section, cold beer and good food.
Winter tourists who need a pleasant break in the Swedish alpine world. Summer tourists who look for nature and culture outside the door. In recent years handsome Filipstad has even been discovered by visitors from other countries looking to take advantage of the activities and weekend packages offered here.

Guided mine toursDiscover Hornkullen’s Silver Mines, where legend will have it silver was taken out even before the pest or around 1350. Mining stopped in 1847 and the mines fell into disrepair.
